A new Wendy's is coming to the former Checkers at the Concourse B food court at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  The space, which airport sources indicate has been empty about two years, will mark the return of the popular square burger eatery to the world's busiest airport.  Wendy's previously operated a location in the airport's atrium where Popeyes is today.  
Houston-based Salata plans to open yet another Atlanta area location, this time off Peachtree Parkway in Johns Creek.  The chain, which has three locations already open in metro Atlanta, is to occupy a 2,375 square foot suite in the LA Fitness / TJ Maxx-anchored Johns Creek Village shopping center.  Salata, which calls itself "the next generation salad bar," opened its first Atlanta area location last year in Atlantic Station and has since added locations in Sandy Springs and East Cobb.  Additional locations are in the works at Liberty Park Village in Alpharetta, Peachtree Corners Market Town Center in Peachtree Corners, and The Hub (Peachtree Center) in downtown Atlanta. 

Maryville, Tennessee-based Ruby Tuesday closed its LaGrange location this past Sunday night according to a report by The City Menus.  The restaurant, located at 305 North Morgan Street, was reportedly closed as normal after business hours on Sunday.  On Monday, management was called and informed the restaurant was closed for good.  The next closest locations are in Newnan and Carrollton.   

il bacio, the Lindbergh Plaza pizzeria and trattoria that has been a staple of the center for ten years, was sold to new owners earlier this week.  The sale was handled by Steve Josovitz with The Shumacher Group.  Josovitz tells ToNeTo Atlanta that there are no plans to convert the restaurant and it is likely to continue operating as it has.  

Publix closed its store at Hairston Crossing in Decatur  March 3.  The store, located at 2075 South Hairston Road, was first announced to be be closing in late November.  

Abuelos Mexican Kitchen & Cantina has opened in Abernathy Square in Sandy Springs.  The new restaurant, which is reportedly not related to the Abuelos chain, replaced the short-lived CT Cocina & Taqueria.  

The Uncle Maddio's Pizza in Frederick, Maryland closed earlier this week.  The closure marks the third Uncle Maddio's to close this year.   In total, 31 Uncle Maddio's locations have closed, while 30 continue to operate.  The most recent Atlanta area closure was last month in Kennesaw.   

Cowtippers, which we previously reported would close January 28th, then updated to reflect a planned February 18 closure, now plans to stay open "for the foreseeable future." 

Kale Me Crazy plans to open its twelfth Atlanta area location later this year at the new Modera Vinings apartment community on Cumberland Boulevard near Cumberland Mall.  The new location will be 1,150 square feet.   The juice joint chain, which was started by Yogli Mogli founder Roi Shlomo in 2013 in Inman Park, has now expanded to Cary, North Carolina with upcoming locations planned for Homewood, Alabama, Ridgeland, Mississippi, and Denver, Colorado.  


Abercrombie & Fitchannounced earlier today that is plans to close an additional 60 stores as it continues its ongoing efforts to trim its store count amidst declining in-store traffic.  Details of when and where the closures would occur was not made public.  Last month, Abercrombie closed its longtime Gwinnett Place Mall store.
