A growing chain of trampoline facilities is entering the Atlanta market. Altitude Trampoline Park, based in Southlake, Texas, will open a new location behind Parkaire Landing shopping center in East Cobb. The new Altitude will open in the roughly 30,000 square foot building that previously housed the Marietta Ice Center. The Ice Center, which opened in the early 1970s as part of what was then Parkaire Mall, changed hands earlier this year, but closed a short time later.

Plans call for the former ice skating facility to be altered and renovated to suit the needs of the new trampoline park. Typical Altitude facilities feature trampoline-based dodge ball and basketball, foam pits, and a variety of activities such as its Kids Court, Tumble Tracks, Wipeout, a High 9 Reaction Wall, a ninja course, and even a “Warped Wall."
Altitude, and facilities like it, have been popular replacements for shuttered big box and grocery stores across metro Atlanta and the country.
Rockin' Jump, based in Pleasanton, California, opened a franchise along Cumberland Boulevard in Smyrna in place of an anchor space in Cumberland Crossing most recently home to bankrupt electronics retailer hhgregg.
Altitude also opened in a former hhgregg last fall in Gastonia, North Carolina. The Gastonia location, though, was in the news earlier this summer for an unfortunate death that occurred at the facility.
Xdrenaline, another facility, has just one location, but it's about 6.5 miles from the upcoming Altitude at 1611 Roswell Road.
Los Angeles-based Sky Zone, another similar facility, operates several Atlanta area locations including those in Kennesaw, Roswell and Suwanee.
