On the heels of our report December 4 that Charlotte-based Bojangles' had closed not one, but four, Atlanta area restaurants, we received inquiries about the sudden change in paint color of the affected restaurant's awnings and what it might mean. ToNeTo Atlanta drove by the former Bojangles' restaurants on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Duluth and Holcomb Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners and noted that the formerly orange awnings were now royal blue. Could someone have already leased one or all of the former restaurants?
A ToNeTo Atlanta reader who pointed out the paint change in Duluth speculated this might mean that Culver's, a growing burger chain, whose primary color is royal blue, might be coming. While possible, our attention [and hope] turned to locally based Martin's, a breakfast and lunch eatery, also with royal blue as its primary color, and a chain that would seem perfectly suited to replace its out of town rival.
Unfortunately, when contacted for comment, Martin's management said they had not leased any of the former Bojangles'.
Our corporate contact at Bojangles' confirmed the sad reality to us. "...awnings are painted as part of the un-branding of the property. It has nothing to do with the property being sold or leased."
So there you have it. The properties are still available and as we said, tailor-made for Martin's. Here's to hoping!
What would you like see open in the four shuttered Bojangles'? Have you ever been to Martin's? What quick-serve chain [not named In-N-Out Burger] would you most like to see enter or expand in metro Atlanta?
