P.F. Chang's China Bistro has permanently closed its Dunwoody restaurant. Despite still being marked on Google as "Temporarily Closed," all signage has been removed and a note posted to the restaurant's front door confirms the closure is permanent. The Dunwoody restaurant is strangely still listed on the P.F. Chang's website, but is marked as "closed."
Following the closure the Scottsdale, Arizona-based chain operates five locations in Georgia, including three in metro Atlanta. Remaining area P.F. Chang's include those at Cumberland Mall near Smyrna, North Point Mall in Alpharetta and Mall of Georgia in Buford. The chain also has a licensed location at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport and another at Augusta Mall in Augusta.
The closure of P.F. Chang's in Dunwoody should not be considered a result of COVID-19, although the pandemic may have ultimately accelerated the closing. Sources close to the restaurant indicate that its lease was up in July, and that it had expressed no interest in being part of the new project - Perimeter Marketplace - planned for the site [Ashford Restaurant Park] of it and two already previously shuttered and now demolished former restaurants. Brio Tuscan Grille and McCormick & Schmick's previously closed in the center in August 2017 and January 2018, respectively.
Perimeter Marketplace, being developed by current land owner Branch Properties, is slated to be anchored by a new, roughly 25,000 square foot Publix Super Market, as well as Atlanta's fourth Chopt as well as several other shops and restaurants. The construction of the new center will mean not only that the land that the three restaurants previously occupied be redeveloped, but that the pond in front of the restaurants - often the landing spot for area ducks and geese - be filled in.
