MOD Pizza, already with seven locations open in Georgia and an eighth coming soon, has secured a lease on its ninth! The new MOD will open in an outparcel of Cumming Marketplace where it will occupy a 2,800 square foot space in a building that also includes an existing Starbucks. Seattle-based MOD entered the metro Atlanta market in 2017 with an outpost at Kennesaw Marketplace in Kennesaw. In the years since, the quick serve pizza franchise has opened additional Atlanta area locations in Dawsonville, Sandy Springs, Chamblee, East Cobb and Decatur, as well as a location in Augusta. An eighth location is expected to open later this year at the new Fuqua Development project The Exchange @ Gwinnett in Buford.
Ageless Arts Tattoo is now open in the Dallas/West Cobb area at 4075 Charles Hardy Parkway. Opened by veteran artist Richard Nunnally shortly after the new year, Ageless Arts offers custom tattooing in a newly renovated, safe, and sterile environment.
Yogurtland has now closed both its Brookhaven (TOWN Brookhaven) and Buckhead (West Paces Ferry shopping center) franchises leaving only the Peachtree Corners location at The Forum in metro Atlanta. A store in Peachtree City closed years ago.
Chase Bankhas opened at the lobby level of the ICON Buckhead apartment high-rise, and in a related move, closed their branch at the Disco Kroger shopping center in Buckhead.
Fresh to Order (F2o) has reopened at the lobby level of the Sovereign building in Buckhead after being closed since last spring.
Walgreens has closed their longstanding store at Brookhaven Plaza on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven. The former Eckerd turned RiteAid occupies a roughly 8,600 square foot store in the Total Wine-anchored shopping center. The store seemed duplicative with a newer, larger drive-thru equipped Walgreens across the street, but it was kept open due reportedly incredibly high sales. It's unclear what now prompted the decision to close the store, but its space could now be paired with the adjacent 28,000 square foot former Stein Mart beside it to appeal to a potential anchor in need of additional space.

Subway has closed at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. Rock's Chicken, Johnny Rockets, Moe's Southwest Grill and one floor below, Earl of Sandwich, are now the center's only "food court" options.
A new ground-up Goodwill thrift store and career center is under construction at 2160 Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta. Goodwill of North Georgia is spending north of $3.4 million to construct the nearly 35,000 square foot facility, according to permits filed with the City of Atlanta. The new store is expected to open later this fall. Headquartered near Decatur, Goodwill of North Georgia currently operates more than 60 thrift store and donation centers.
Dollar General's new concept store Popshelf has secured leases for several additional stores in Georgia. The chain - marketed towards higher income female customers - was launched last fall with two stores in Nashville. The premise of the store is similar to the hugely successful Five Below, where the majority of the store's merchandise is priced at $5 or less. In January, the company opened stores in Georgia in McDonough and Austell. New stores are now slated to open soon in Conyers (Conyers Commons), Loganville (North Logan Commons) and Cumming (1505 Marketplace Boulevard), where it will open in place of a former freestanding Pier 1 [Imports].
Popeyes has several new locations coming soon to Georgia including those planned for 8616 Dallas-Acworth Highway in Acworth, 6185 Jonesboro Road in Morrow, and 5819 Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta.
The Church's Chicken at 1405 Moreland Avenue in southeast Atlanta has "closed 4 remodel" but there are no permits on file with the City of Atlanta and no indication that the freestanding drive-thru restaurant will reopen.
