Just over four years after opening, Wade's Fine Eatery & Good Time Emporium in Smyrna has shuttered. The restaurant, located at 1061 Concord Road, closed at the end of dinner service on Sunday August 15. Sources close to Wade's tell ToNeTo Atlanta that the business and the real estate it occupies were sold to an unidentified restaurateur who plans to reopen the restaurant under a new name in the near future.
Wade's Fine Eatery & Good Time Emporium originally opened August 8, 2017 and was the brainchild of co-owner and Smyrna resident Jason McClure. The two-story restaurant was built from the ground up adjacent to what was then the recently completed Concord Linear Park. McClure told us at the time of opening that Wade's was to be the first of several Smyrna eateries he planned to open under his "Smyrna Restaurant Concepts" group.
Named for McClure's father Wade, who passed away a few years ago, the restaurant's logo featured a cardinal, as the McClures believe Wade lives on as one. Wade's was meant to compliment the adjacent park and serve as an amenity for the neighborhood. The restaurant provided assorted yard and table games for patrons to enjoy while at the restaurant, as well as sidewalk chalk for children to draw with on space adjacent to the restaurant.
Wade's had a cumulative 3.5 star rating on Yelp.com with nearly 300 reviews. That said, four of the restaurant's last five reviews were just one star with the fifth recent review a two star. Comments from dissatisfied customers included mentions of poor cleanliness, inadequate staffing and menu outages.
The Wade's Facebook page was last updated June 13 and while there was never any announcement of the closure, the page was updated late Tuesday to reflect that the restaurant is "permanently closed." A ToNeTo Atlanta reader also reports that there is now signage in the window of the restaurant confirming the closure.
