A new location of Food Terminal is planned for Barrett Pavilion in Kennesaw.  The new restaurant will open in place of the former Joe's Crab Shack which shuttered in the 7,930 square foot freestanding building (2501 Cobb Place Boulevard) in 2019.  The new Kennesaw outpost will ultimately be the fourth for the growing Malaysian restaurant chain which opened their first restaurant along Buford Highway in Chamblee in 2017.
A second Food Terminal opened at West Midtown's Brickworks project in 2019, with a third slated to open in the coming months in Alpharetta, where it will replace a former Fuddruckers on North Point Parkway near North Point Mall.

Food Terminal marks the second new restaurant slated to open in Barrett Pavilion shopping center in the coming months.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported Thursday that local Mexican restaurant Zama plans to open what will be its third restaurant later this fall in the former Rafferty's, across the parking lot from the upcoming Food Terminal.

While photographing the former Joe's, we were surprised to see a full kids' playground seemingly attached to the restaurant and operated by the seafood eatery.  It's unlikely the feature would be retained for Food Terminal, but was nonetheless surprising to see at a casual restaurant.

The owners of Food Terminal are, of course, already familiar with the Kennesaw area as they also own Sweet Hut Bakery & Café, which opened about two miles away on Chastain Meadows Parkway in 2017.

Sources close to the restaurant tell ToNeTo Atlanta that the hope is for Food Terminal Kennesaw to open during the first half of 2022.

Are you excited for the planned opening of Food Terminal in Kennesaw?  What other types of restaurants would you like to see open in the area?  Have you adjusted your dining habits in recent weeks in the wake of the rise in cases due to the Delta variant of COVID-19?
