Diesel Filling Station, the longtime Virginia-Highland watering hole (870 North Highland Avenue) that closed at the end of 2021, has been sold.  After opening in 2008 and operating successfully for more than a decade, Diesel was listed for sale by owner Justin Haynie in September 2021.  The Shumacher Group, Inc. and Steve Josovitz represented the seller in the transaction which reportedly closed Monday, January 31.

Randy Pechin, owner of the popular cocktail bar Little Spirit in Inman Park, purchased Diesel, which according to the sales offering included all furniture, fixtures, equipment, and lease rights to the 1,000 square foot restaurant.  According to an update on The Shumacher Group website, "Mr. Pechin will announce exciting new plans for this iconic location shortly."

ToNeTo Atlanta reached out to Pechin for comment, but we have not yet received a response.  Pechin opened Little Spirit in Inman Quarter in 2018, where cocktail bar Amer had previously operated.  This past April, Pechin launched a secondary concept, Sideshow, which operates from a window adjacent to Little Spirit.  Sideshow offers shaved ice cocktails as well as assorted bites from a rotating variety of local chefs.

The former Diesel space could potentially serve as a new formalized home of the Sideshow concept.

What kind of concept would you most like to see open in the former Diesel building?  Are you surprised Diesel closed?  Have you been to Sideshow?
