Popular Spanish fashion brand Mango will later this year make its long-awaited Atlanta area debut. The new Mango is slated to join Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody where it will open in a roughly 8,300 square foot space. Mango will backfill the former Banana Republic on the second floor of the Macy's wing, putting it across the hall from the sprawling 31,000 square foot Zara, a fellow fast fashion retailer, also based in Spain.
The company on May 11, 2022 debuted its U.S. flagship, a three-level, 22,600 square foot store at 711 Fifth Avenue. “The store has performed above plan,” Daniel Lopez, the company's director of expansion and franchising told Women's Wear Daily (WWD). Lopez added that it’s boosted the company’s confidence in its U.S. expansion plan. “We are executing online and offline.” In the U.S. Mango sells on its own website, on macys.com, nordstrom.com, and at its nine stores.
The company is reportedly “on track” with its plan to have 40 stores operating in the U.S. by 2024.
According to Fashion Network, Mango's focus for its U.S. opening will primarily be on its women's collections, except for the Perimeter store which will also feature the brand's men's collections. Mango releases two major collections a year, for spring and fall, which continually get refreshed with new items.
At Perimeter Mall, a Brookfield Properties Retail Inc. property, Mango joins fellow fast fashion retailers including the aforementioned Zara as well as H&M and Forever 21. The popular Dunwoody mall is also home to outposts of Urban Outfitters, Gap, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Madewell, lululemon, Express, Anthropologie, Brooks Brothers, Aeropostale and J. Crew, among others.
Mango seems to, at least for now, be eschewing Lenox Square in Buckhead in favor of the more suburban mall that many Atlantans likely view as the more pleasant and safer shopping destination.
The new Mango store is currently under construction with sources telling ToNeTo Atlanta it should be open later this fall in time for the holiday shopping season.
