Metro Atlanta's newest Publix is slated to open June 21! The new store, which anchors the new Summerhill Station development in Summerhill, spans nearly 50,000 square feet and sports a retro-inspired exterior design. The store is located at 572 Hank Aaron Drive SE in a portion of a former Turner Field parking lot. Publix will reportedly hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:45 AM on the 21st to celebrate the store's opening.
In addition to Publix, Summerhill Station will also welcome other tenants including eateries Cava, Rusty Taco and Tropical Smoothie Cafe as well as Piedmont Urgent Care by WellStreet and AT&T, among others. Overall, the more than four acre property will include nearly 87,000 square feet of retail space.
The area, once home to the Atlanta Braves, is now the home of Georgia State's football team and has with it brought more than 1,000 new apartments. Georgia Avenue, too, has blossomed into a restaurant mecca with lauded eatery Southern National, led by Chef Duane Nutter and restaurateur Reggie Washington expected to open June 29.
Elsewhere in metro Atlanta new Publix stores are planned for Buckhead, on the site of the former "Disco" Kroger, Phase 2 of Interlock on Northside Drive in West Midtown, and in Gainesville at the new Limestone Marketplace project, among others.
In recent years the grocer has added new Atlanta area locations in Avondale, East Cobb, Tucker, Dunwoody and Chamblee, among others.
Lakeland, Florida-based Publix currently operates more than 1,300 stores across seven states including more than 200 in Georgia.
