Metro Atlanta's newest Chick-fil-A  opens this week near Ponce City Market.  The new Chick-fil-A restaurant is located at the intersection of Ponce de Leon and Boulevard and will open on Thursday, June 15.  Chick-fil-A, Inc. selected Jamerian Myles, an existing Chick-fil-A Operator, as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Ponce & Boulevard. The new restaurant joins more than 180 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving "the wider Atlanta market."

Myles is a native of Virginia Beach and attended Winston Salem State University as a first-generation college graduate. Chick-fil-A was his first and only job: he began working as a Team Member in 2004 at age 16 and was selected to be a restaurant Operator at just 24 years old, opening Chick-fil-A Glenwood Place in Glenwood Park. Prior to Glenwood Place, Myles was Operator at Alexandria Mall in Alexandria, Louisiana from 2012-2014 and Cleveland Avenue in East Point from 2014-2016.

Myles will continue to serve as Operator at Chick-fil-A Glenwood Place and in doing so, joins a small but growing number of Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators entrusted with multiple restaurants.

“We feel really blessed to have the chance to create new opportunities for people in Atlanta, especially in such a central location as our restaurant,” said Myles.  The new restaurant will bring about 115 full and part-time jobs to the community.   “We are so passionate about helping young people grow, and I cannot wait to serve as a mentor to those people.  I am excited to be providing jobs—and a place where everyone can come and share a meal together—to our community.”

Rather than host the company's traditional "First 100" opening event whereby patrons camp out at the restaurant 24 hours before opening to receive a digital card good for 52 #1 combo meals, the new restaurant will continue a COVID-era pivot to an altered version of the event.  To celebrate the opening, "100 local heroes" (people who are making an impact in our local communities) were awarded "free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year."   A Chick-fil-A Inc. spokesperson indicates that the shift away from the traditional First 100 opening is still only temporary.

The new Chick-fil-A replaced an Texaco gas station and convenience store and is one of two restaurants the Atlanta-based company has planned for Ponce de Leon. Interestingly, the restaurant's location is listed as 689 Boulevard AND 513 Ponce De Leon Avenue.  Less than a mile away, at 777 Ponce, another new Chick-fil-A is slated to replace Dugan's, which is "moving" to Northlake [Mall] in Tucker.  The 777 Ponce Chick-fil-A will not have a drive-thru and will instead be oriented towards pickup, takeout and delivery.

Chick-fil-A, whose main corporate headquarters is located on Buffington Road in southwest Atlanta, operates a satellite office at 725 Ponce, a glassy high-rise located between the two Ponce restaurants.
