[CLOSURE ALERT] Korean BBQ Seems to Have Shuttered at Suburban Mall

It appears that Breakers Korean BBQ has shuttered its outpost at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody.  The restaurant, which opened at the suburban mall in April 2019, reportedly closed as of August 7 to complete "a roof replacement," according to a customer who tried visiting the restaurant Sunday.  A ToNeTo Atlanta reader who visited the restaurant Wednesday reports that there is now signage that reads "Temporary closed for maintenance" but there is no indication any work has or/will take place.

When the Dunwoody restaurant opened, it was the sixth overall for the chain.  The chain was started by entrepreneurs Bobby Kim and his son David in 2015 with their first location in Duluth near Gwinnett Place Mall.  The Gwinnett Place location closed this past fall which followed the closures of others in Frisco and Carrollton, Texas.  Another outpost (like the Dunwoody location) is marked "temporarily closed" on Google but local sources tell ToNeTo Atlanta the restaurant is, in fact, closed for good.

The Breakers website displays the following message: "BREAKERS BBQ, REIMAGINED. Welcome to the new Breakers site, a family of Korean BBQ experts focused on providing the best in Korean BBQ."

According to the website, one location remains open at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, Virginia.

When Breakers opened at Perimeter Mall, it replaced what has most recently been The Pub, and before that, an outpost of Hudson Grille, and originally, Garrison's Broiler & Tap.  (Hudson Grille and Garrison's were both concepts of Atlanta-based Metrotainment Cafes).

In the years since Breakers debut, Perimeter Mall has welcomed several new eateries including 26 Thai, P.F. Chang's, Lazy Dog, Buffalo Wild Wings and soon, Incredible Burger, in the food court.  A planned opening of Doc B's, a new to market Houston's-like restaurant, is reportedly still moving forward but has been slowed by both inflation elevated construction costs and higher interest rates.

Are you surprised to see Breakers close at Perimeter Mall?  What would you like to see open in place of Breakers at Perimeter Mall?  What is your favorite Dunwoody area restaurant?
