Whataburger today announced the openings of two more locations with a third to follow.  A new ground-up Whataburger restaurant at 81 Duval Road in Dawsonville opens for drive-thru-only service today at 11 AM with a second in Kennesaw at 840 Ernest W Barrett Parkway slated to debut at the same time and initially with drive-thru only service on Wednesday November 15.

The Kennesaw unit marks the second of three planned former Joella's (originally Pollo Tropical) restaurants that Whataburger plans to convert.  The company opened in Newnan in early August and plans to open in Akers Mill Square near Cumberland Mall before the end of the year.     A third new unit, 1436 Scenic Highway in Snellville, is also expected to open before the end of the year.

"Operating Partners Richard Anderson (Dawsonville) and Cody Turner (Kennesaw) and their combined teams of 260 Family Members, what Whataburger calls its employees, are ready to welcome Guests to the eateries and bring the brand’s signature 24/7 offerings, with breakfast available from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. In the coming weeks, curbside and delivery services online and through the Whataburger App will become available at both locations.  The Snellville location, led by Operating Partner Marcus Davis, will bring an additional 140 jobs to the community."

After years of having just a single location in Georgia in Thomasville, Whataburger entered the metro Atlanta market in November 2022 with a restaurant along Chastain Road in Kennesaw.  In the year since, the San Antonio-based chain has opened nine additional restaurants in Georgia, including those in Woodstock, Cumming, Buford, and Athens, among others.

In partnership with franchisee Made to Order Holdings, LLC, Whataburger expects to open an additional nine Georgia restaurants in 2024.

ToNeTo Atlanta has in recent months reported on several new Whataburger restaurants planned for the greater metro Atlanta area including those planned for Alpharetta, Roswell, Duluth, Oakwood, Grayson, Dahlonega Commerce and Monroe.  Overall, the chain has Texas-sized aspirations of having 50 Whataburger restaurants open in Georgia by 2030.

Have you tried Whataburger at one of their existing Atlanta area restaurants?  Do think Whataburger is better than other fast food burger joints?  Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Whataburger open?
