Brooklyn Bagel & Deli is bringing its bagels to a new neighborhood.  Already with locations in Johns Creek and Midtown, a new Brooklyn Bagel & Deli could open as soon as late this year in Brookhaven!  The new eatery is planned for Cambridge Square, the soon-to-be Publix-anchored shopping center at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Ashford Dunwoody Roads.

The original Brooklyn Bagel & Deli opened on Haynes Bridge Road in Johns Creek in 1997 and is operated by the father and son team of Alan and Avi Ahlzadeh. It would be two dozen years before the Ahlzadeh's second location opened.  ToNeTo Atlanta was first in late 2020 to report on the planned Midtown location along Piedmont Avenue at Ansley Mall.  The Midtown restaurant opened in August 2021 and occupies a former Panera [Bread], spanning more than 4,300 square feet.  The Ansley Mall eatery is more than double the size of the Johns Creek shop which measures just over 2,000 square feet.

In Brookhaven, Brooklyn Bagel will occupy a former Starbucks and a former UPS Store, with a combined square footage of just over 3,100 square feet.

The eatery describes itself as a "fast casual New York deli and bakery" where they make all of their bagels from scratch, daily, using the traditional kettle boiling method.  This preparation ensures that their bagels are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

With two locations open and a third on the way, ownership also recently closed on the purchase and lease of a production facility just off Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.  The roughly 3,400 square foot space was described by Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, the broker who handled the sale, as a "Prep Kitchen & Commissary with Baking Production Equipment."  The facility was most recently operated by Rocket Farm Restaurants (Ford Fry).

Brooklyn Bagel's Brookhaven shop joins a growing list of bagel shops and bakeries that have opened in the area in recent months.  Henri's, which has good cookies but what seem like store-bought bagels, opened at 2163 Johnson Ferry Road last January.  More recently, both Einstein Bros. Bagels (in Chamblee Plaza) and The Bronx Bagel Buggy (at Broad Street and Peachtree Road) opened late last year.

Brooklyn Bagel & Deli, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and The Bronx Bagel Buggy, among other local bagel shops, participate in "Bagel Rescue," a local non-profit that was launched in 2020 and works to "rescue" surplus bagels.  The organization supports more than 100 partner agencies and has made more than 10,000 deliveries, rescuing more than 1.4 million bagels.

Are you excited about the opening of Brooklyn Bagel & Deli in Brookhaven?  Who in Atlanta do you think makes the best bagel?  What local bagel shop would you most like to see expand?
