Don't Ship Your Pants! Kmart East Cobb is Closing

Kmart is closing in East Cobb.

Kmart is closing its store at East Cobb Crossing Shopping Center at the intersection of Johnson Ferry and Roswell Roads in East Cobb.  The store, located at 4269 Roswell Road, has closed a few times over the years, most recently as a Sears in late 2011, and before that as a Kmart.  The most recent Kmart incarnation began in early 2012.

The Kmart sits across the street from a heavily renovated Target store.  I visited both the Target and the Kmart this past holiday season, and it was clear the Kmart was on its last leg.  A company representative tells me the store is not continuing the revolving door scenario and will not reopen as a Sears.  The store is due to close for good March 26th.

East Cobb Crossing Shopping Center screams redevelopment with its former Michael's space (they relocated to the former Borders at the Avenue East Cobb), shuttered freestanding TCBY, and the somehow-still-open Radio Shack.  Dick's Sporting Goods had expressed interest in the space that Michael's took in the Avenues, and could perhaps be part of a redevelopment at this center.

Will you or have you shopped kmart's liquidation sale?
What would you like to see open at East Cobb Crossing Shopping Center?

Should the center be demolished for redevelopment?
