Chicken chain continues growth spurt.
Athens, Georgia-based Zaxby's is planning a new location on Chamblee Tucker Road in Tucker. The new restaurant would be built on the site of the current Bon Auto Service shop, across the street from the Kroger-anchored Embry Village shopping center.
The parcel, located at 3568 Chamblee Tucker Road, is about 2 blocks from 285, 1.4 acres, with 200 feet of frontage on Chamblee Tucker Road. The current business has access to both Chamblee Tucker Road and Old Chamblee Tucker Road.
The proposed restaurant needs special approval for its drive-thru lane and has requested a reduction in the number of required parking spaces. There is a community council meeting scheduled for April 21st and a pair of Planning Commission meetings scheduled for May 6th and 27th to discuss their requests.
Fried chicken has been a popular category in Tucker with both Popeyes and Bojangles' with locations under construction in the area. The Popeyes restaurant is reportedly very close to opening on LaVista Road near Northlake Mall, while Bojangles' was delayed and is now targeting a mid June opening on Lawrenceville Highway near Northlake Parkway.
Zaxby's has a new location under construction on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross and another coming soon to South Marietta Parkway in Marietta. A third is proposed for Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.
