Biscuit chain planning Chamblee location
Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bojangles' is planning a new location on Buford Highway in Chamblee. The new freestanding restaurant would be built in an outparcel of Crossroads Village shopping center on Buford Highway near its intersection with Clairmont Road.
An El Pollo Loco opened in the center in 2008, but closed in 2011 amidst the chain's struggles in the Atlanta market. Today, the former chicken joint is an urgent care facility. A Burger King also opened in an outparcel of the center, and continues to operate.
Crossroads Village is anchored by an Aldi grocery store, but also features over a dozen inline retailers and restaurants.
Not far from Crossroads Village, a McDonald's relocated to a newly built structure close to Skyland Kroger, while a Smoothie King now occupies a former Checkers.
About a mile and a half down Buford Highway at Northeast Plaza, Atlanta-based Popeyes closed their freestanding restaurant in 2009. Pollo Campero, a Guatemala-based fast food chicken chain with U.S. headquarters in Dallas, Texas opened in place of Popeyes.
Bojangles' has been aggressively expanding its Atlanta area presence, having added new locations to Tucker, Peachtree Corners, Duluth, Lithonia and Stone Mountain in recent years.
Yesterday, I broke news of a planned Bojangles' a few miles up Buford Highway in Doraville.
Where would you like to see the next Bojangles' open? Who makes the best biscuit in town?
