New Chick-fil-A planned in southwest Atlanta
Well placed sources confirm that a new Chick-fil-A restaurant is planned for 3725 Cascade Road in southwest Atlanta. The new freestanding restaurant would be built at the corner of Cascade and Fairburn Roads on the site of a former Rite Aid. The Rite Aid closed early last year with the roughly one acre property having sat vacant since then.
The site of the would-be Chick-fil-A is about a half mile from Exit 7 of I-285 and is near the Publix-anchored Cascade Crossing shopping center. Gladys Knight's Chicken & Waffles Signature opened a restaurant in 2013 in a neighboring center.
Chick-fil-A recently opened new Atlanta area locations in Dunwoodyoutside Perimeter Mall and in west midtown near Georgia Tech. New Atlanta area Chick-fil-A restaurants are planned on Bill Kennedy Way at the new Glenwood Place project and in Alpharetta at Avalon on Old Milton Parkway. The Glenwood Place location is scheduled to open May 12th while the Avalon location is currently slated to open in the first quarter of next year.
Chick-fil-A also plans to open a new restaurant in Vine City early in the second quarter of next year. Another new Chick-fil-A may be coming to Ponce de Leon Avenue in February of next year, but company officials have denied they have firm plans.
Current plans are to have the new Chick-fil-A on Cascade Road open in February 2017.
Chick-fil-A traces its roots to 1946, when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville, Georgia. Chick-fil-A, which boasts of being the inventor of not the chicken, but the chicken sandwich, has steadily grown over the last few decades. There are now over 130 locations in Georgia and nearly 2,000 over 42 states and Washington, D.C. Last year, Chick-fil-A, which only operates six days a week, bettered their competition, raking in over $6 billion in sales, becoming the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, based on domestic annual sales.
