TOWN Brookhaven has seen more than its fair share of business failures in its sixteen year history. ToNeTo Atlanta has over the years reported on more than two dozen closures including Slack's Hoagie Shack, Yogurtland, Which Wich, Copper Coin Coffee, Swirll Frozen Yogurt, The Cup, Tre'za, Boneheads, Lucky's Burger & Brew, Stir Crazy, Smash, Noche, Jefe's, Baci, PizzaFire, Harken Health, and Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub, to name a few.
The Wing Guru, a Memphis-based eatery, opened in a 2,489 square foot space near Moe's at the front of the complex in 2022. The wing joint occupied a space that had earlier housed Tanaka Ramen & Noodle Bar and before that, Boneheads Grill.
Strangely, a new advertisement for TOWN Brookhaven's holiday events in local publication Simply Buckhead still lists The Wing Guru as a current tenant. (Urban Wok is noticeably absent from the ad.)
Urban Wok reportedly closed earlier this year after being sold in early 2023 by original franchisee Artimus Hart. The Asian-inspired restaurant first opened in December 2020 in a 1,299 square foot space previously home to Olive Bistro. The Brookhaven location was to be the first of several from the Minnesota-based franchise.
Opening in place of Urban Wok is a new eatery from Chef Robert Gayle of Chef Rob's Cafe & Bar in Sandy Springs. Gayle, a native of Jamaica, opened his first restaurant in Parkside Shops in 2006. Designed to be a smaller, simpler version of Gayle's original sit-down restaurant, Jerks Caribbean Grill will feature a variety of classic Caribbean dishes in a fast-casual format. According to signage at the space, dining can expect "Contemporary Caribbean Cuisine, but fast."
Jerks Caribbean Grill will join newly opened art studio franchise Hawaii Fluid Art as new businesses in TOWN Brookhaven. Based in Texas, Hawaii Fluid Art is an interactive art studio for all ages and experience levels. In addition to Brookhaven, Hawaii Fluid Art also has a location in Johns Creek.
Coming next year to TOWN Brookhaven is Club Studio, a new upscale fitness center from Fitness International, the owners of LA Fitness. The former LA Fitness in TOWN Brookhaven closed August 25 and is currently undergoing an extensive remodel with plans to reopen sometime next summer/fall.
